Music

Sheet Music StandHappy October Families,

Since we just wrapped up career night, I wanted to talk about careers in music. Over the years, students tell me that they do not consider music important because they are not interested in becoming a musician or a music teacher. However, there is a world of possibilities with music! Continue reading to learn about some music-related careers.

Is your child into technology? One career option is music production, which involves overseeing the recording and mixing of music tracks. Music producers work with artists to develop their sound, and often collaborate with audio
engineers and studio musicians to create the final product. This career requires a strong musical background and technical skills in recording and mixing software.

Does your child love to write? Another career path in music is music journalism. Music journalists write about the latest trends in music, review albums and concerts, and interview
artists. This career requires excellent writing skills, a passion for music, and knowledge of the music industry.

Has your child expressed interest in the medical field? Music therapy is another career option for those also interested in music. Music therapists use music to help individuals improve
their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. They work with a variety of clients, including those with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and physical injuries. This career requires a degree in music therapy and certification, as well as a strong desire to help others through music.

Overall, the music industry offers a wide range of exciting career options beyond performing and teaching. Whether you’re interested in music production, journalism, or therapy, there’s a career in music for you. Click here to learn more about these careers and others.
