Principal's Message

Dear Sundance Families,

With the cool Autumn breeze making its way through our campus, it is finally starting to feel like Fall. October is a great month at Sundance, because both students and teachers alike have established strong routines, built relationships as a classroom learning community, and learning is full speed ahead!

We have been able to recognize many of our Sundance students through “I Met a Goal!” a weekly recognition for students who have set, achieved, and in some instances, surpassed, academic and behavioral goals. Students are recognized during Friday announcements and receive a certificate and “I Met a Goal” pencil. I have also had the pleasure of calling families based on teacher recommendations for a Positive Principal Phone Call. It brings us great joy to reach out to families and recognize your children for their great accomplishments.

Students have now completed the beginning of year Istation assessment. The results will be shared with you during parent teacher conferences. Conferences are scheduled for October 28th and 29th. Most conferences will be held via Zoom as we continue to limit the number of visitors we have on campus, but please reach out to your child’s teacher if you would prefer to meet in person. Your child’s teacher will contact you to establish a conference time.

We hope you make every effort to attend this important conference.
On October 29th our Renaissance Committee has organized a school-wide costume parade and games which will be held outside. In the past, we have welcomed all families, but due to time constraints and the limit of outside visitors on our campus, this event will be for students only. As you select a costume for your child, please adhere to the following guidelines: no blood or gore, no weapons or costumes depicting violence of any kind, no clothing or props simulating tobacco or alcohol use, and as always, our dress code applies. In regards to masks and costumes that completely cover a child’s face, for safety reasons, we must be able to see our students’ faces when they arrive on campus.

I want to thank you for your support thus far this school year. I truly believe we have THE BEST students, and I know it is not possible without your support from home. Keeping a positive attitude about current protocols, supporting your child’s teacher, and keeping positive communication with all the staff at our school, make learning possible. This will be a busy October with many tasks ahead of us, but together we can make it happen for our amazing Sundance students.
